My interest in journalism was sparked by a recommendation from a senior at my school. They noticed how often I engaged with news from sources like The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Herald News in my free time and suggested I explore HSR. That suggestion set me on the path to joining the team.

HSR was the first organization where I truly understood the dynamics between reporters and editors. Before HSR, I hadn’t fully appreciated how essential their collaboration is in shaping impactful stories. This experience gave me a much deeper insight into the journalistic process.

One of the most valuable aspects was receiving feedback on my writing. It was through this feedback that I was able to assess my current level and improve my skills. The constructive critiques pushed me to refine my work and become a more effective writer.

HSR expanded my perspective by showing me how interconnected different topics can be. I discovered that one story often leads into another, broadening my understanding and knowledge. This interconnectedness was both fascinating and memorable, deepening my appreciation for the field.

If you’re serious about experiencing the realities of journalism, HSR is the best option. It provides hands-on opportunities to review and post content, allowing you to optimize your skills as a reporter. The organization pushes you to engage deeply with the work, making it an ideal environment for growth.

I’m grateful for the time I spent as a reporter with HSR. The experience was invaluable, and I’m eager to rejoin the team in the future
